The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire Department of Music and Theatre Arts presents a faculty performance in Gantner Concert Hall at the Haas Fine Arts Center (121 Water Street Eau Claire, WI 54703) Admission is FREE. Doors open 15 minutes before start time.

FREE livestreaming is available for Gantner Concert Hall and Phillips Recital Hall performances of student recitals, ensemble concerts, and guest artists! Livestreaming requires performer authorization, some may opt out of this option.

BIOGRAPHY

Composer/Saxophonist Aaron Hedenstrom is a contemporary saxophonist/composer whose sensibilities span from modern groove-based music to classical music and many sounds in-between.

Aaron's musical journey has taken him to perform on stages such as Birdland in NYC, Snug Harbor in New Orleans, Next Generation Jazz Festival in California, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne, Australia, and across the United States and Alaska.

His musical collaborations have spanned across styles from indie artist S. Carey to eclectic groups like The New Standards, to acclaimed jazz artists such as  saxophonist Grace Kelly, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, vocalist Diane Shuur and saxophonist Bob Reynolds. Aaron’s compositions and arrangements have been played worldwide by ensembles including the SFJazz High School All-Stars, Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble, UNT One Clock Lab Band, TPO Taiwan, Fort Worth Symphony, and more.

As an active educator, Aaron Hedenstrom is an instructor of saxophone and jazz studies at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and is an active clinician and guest performer for educational programs at schools and colleges. Aaron also co-hosts the music composition resource “The Arrangers Podcast" with Drew Zaremba.

Aaron's musical style has been developed studying with top-flight musicians including Rich DeRosa, Brad Leali, Steve Wiest, David Berger, and Ethan Wickman.

Aaron has won numerous awards for his compositions and arrangements, including the Detroit Jazz Festival Arranging Contest, the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards, the BMI Foundation Future Jazz Master Scholarship, the Jazz Education Network Composition Awards. Aaron is a Keilwerth Saxophone performing artist.
